THIS is Ohio Agriculture Kit

For many years Ohio Farm Bureau has been working to educate the general population about agriculture's contributions to the food system, the economy, and the interation between agriculture and the environment.

Whose idea was it to do this economics project?
OFBF Advisory councils asked if the "THIS is Ohio Agriculture" video produced by Ohio Farm Bureau staff for councils to share with community leaders, could be used to help students learn about agriculture.

What is the basis for the lessons?
The lessons were designed with concepts from the fourth- and sixth-grade Proficiency Tests in mind. These economic concepts also correlate to Strand IV - Decision Making and Resources of the Ohio Model for Social Studies. There are six strands of the Ohio Model for Social Studies.

Ohio Farm Bureau contracted with two educational consultants to do the research and write the lessons keeping the proficiency test outcomes in mind.

Who is the audience for this kit?
Educators who teach economics concepts will use the kit. Concepts include: factors of production, supply & demand, producer & consumer, global resource distribution and international trade.

What curriculum area will it be used in?
Most economics concepts are taught within the social studies curriculum. Ask to see the school district's course of study for social studies to match the concepts covered in the kit and those taught by the school.

How much does a kit cost and what is included?
